FIREFIGHTER/ENGINEER/EMT ANNOUNCEMENT
CENTRAL COAST FIRE & RESCUE is accepting applications for a \ Firefighter-Engineer. Candidates must be certified in all minimum requirements through DPSST (NFPA), IFSAC, or Pro-Board certifications by the date of hire. It is the responsibility of individuals seeking equivalency to provide all the necessary documentation. The Fire Chief shall have the final decision.
Central Coast Firefighters are represented by IAFF Local 4619. The District offers a comprehensive Health Insurance plan, Life insurance, vacation, Sick leave, public retirement system OPSRP PERS as well as 457-B retirement plan, and EMS Incentive pays.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
§ 1-year one (1) year experience career or 2 years as a volunteer firefighter/engineer
§ NFPA Firefighter I
§ NFPA Apparatus Operator Equipped with a Pump
§ Wildland Interface Firefighter Type II
§ Possess a valid Oregon driver’s license (at time of employment)
§ Pass a pre-employment medical examination
§ Pass a pre-employment background check
§ NFPA Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations or: NFPA First Responder Operations
§ EMT Basic (Oregon Health Division or NREMT certification)
§ NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800
Preferred Qualifications
§ Firefighter II
§ EMT Paramedic (Oregon Health Division certification)
§ Surface Water Rescue or higher
§ NFPA Apparatus Operator Mobile Water Supply
§ Wildland Interface Firefighter Type 1
§ Rope Rescue Ops or Tech
Candidate(s) meeting the minimum requirements will complete the following:
§ Phase 1 – Application Review Phase September 23rd (25 Points)
§ Phase 2 – Interview Panel September 28th (25 Points)
§ Phase 3 – EMS Scenario September 28th (25 Points)
§ Phase 4 – Fire Skills Scenario September 28th (25 Points)
§ Phase 5 – Preference Points – Participants will receive preference points. Preference points will be applied as listed below to their final score:
o Volunteers with 3 or more years of service with CCF&R – 5 points
o Veterans verified by DD Form 214 or VA Documentation provided by the applicant – 5 points
o Disabled Veterans verified by DD Form 214 or VA Documentation provided by the applicant – 5 points
The District intends to hire one position and establish a two-year eligibility list. To qualify, the participants must score 70 points or higher.
The testing portion will be conducted on September 28th, applicants who meet the minimum qualifications should plan to be available on September 28th for testing beginning at 0845. Anticipated start date of October 6, 2024.
